How to Create an Outcome Quiz

An Outcome Quiz matches respondents with a specific result based on the answers they select. Instead of giving users a grade or showing correct and incorrect answers, you can display a personalized outcome such as a personality type, product recommendation, service, destination, or any other result you define.

Outcome Quiz is ideal for creating personality quizzes, product recommendation quizzes, lead qualification quizzes, and other interactive experiences where different answers should lead to different results.

How Outcome Quiz works

Each answer choice is assigned a value that represents an outcome. When a respondent completes the quiz, Woorise calculates which value appears most often across their selected answers and uses it as the Quiz Outcome.

For example, if your quiz has three possible outcomes — a, b and c — you can assign one of these values to each answer. If most of the respondent’s selected answers have the value b, their Quiz Outcome will be b.

Create an Outcome Quiz

  1. From the Pages main menu choose the page you want to edit. In the Form tab, add your questions using Checkboxes, Radio Buttons or Drop Down fields. You don’t need to use the Quiz field.
  2. Open the General settings for each question, click Edit Choices and enable Show Values.
  3. Enter a value for each answer choice that represents the outcome you want that answer to contribute to. For example, if your quiz has three possible outcomes, you could use the values a, b and c. Repeat this for every question included in the Outcome Quiz.

You can assign the same outcome value to multiple answers and across multiple questions. You can also assign multiple values to a single answer by separating them with a comma, for example a,b.

  1. From Form Settings, navigate to Outcome Quiz and enable Outcome Quiz.

Create results for each outcome

Once your answer values are configured, you can create a different confirmation message for each possible outcome.

  1. From Form Settings, navigate to Confirmations.
  2. Create a confirmation message for each possible result. For example, if your outcome values are a, b and c, you can create three different confirmation messages.
  3. For each confirmation, enable Conditional Logic and configure the message to display when the Quiz Outcome matches the corresponding value.

For example, the confirmation for outcome b should be displayed when Quiz Outcome > is > b.

Results based on a score

Outcome Quiz can also calculate results using numeric values instead of categories. This is useful when you want the final outcome to depend on the respondent’s total score.

To use score-based outcomes, assign a numeric value to each answer instead of category values such as a, b and c. The Quiz Outcome will be the sum of the values from all selected answers.

You can then use operators such as greater than and less than in the conditional logic for your confirmation messages to display different results based on score ranges.

Outcome Quiz examples

You can use Outcome Quiz for many different types of personalized quizzes. Some common examples include:

  • Personality quizzes — match respondents with a personality type, character, profile, or category based on their answers.
  • Product recommendation quizzes — recommend a product, plan, service, or solution based on the respondent’s needs and preferences.
  • Lead qualification quizzes — classify leads into different groups or recommend the most appropriate next step.
  • Content recommendations — recommend articles, resources, courses, destinations, or other content based on the respondent’s interests.

For a step-by-step example using personality types, see our How to Create a Personality Quiz guide.

Randomize quiz questions

Optionally, you can use the Randomize feature to randomize the order of your quiz questions or display a subset of questions from a larger pool. Visit our Randomize Fields guide to learn more.

Merge tags

When Outcome Quiz is enabled, the merge tag {outcome_quiz_result} becomes available. You can use it to display the respondent’s outcome in confirmation messages and email notifications.

You can also send Email Notifications based on the Quiz Outcome using conditional logic.
