How to Create a Giveaway

Giveaways are a powerful way to engage your audience, grow your email list, and boost brand awareness. With Woorise, creating a giveaway is simple and efficient, whether you’re running a contest, sweepstakes, or raffle.

This guide will walk you through each step, from setting up your campaign to customizing your design and sharing it to maximize participation.

Create a giveaway

  1. In your Woorise dashboard navigate to Pages from the main menu.
  2. Click the Add Page button. On the Templates gallery, you can either click Start From Scratch to create a giveaway from scratch or click the Giveaway tab to filter templates and choose an existing template to save time.

With Woorise, you can create various giveaway types, including simple giveaways, instant win giveaways, refer-a-friend campaigns, or photo voting contests. For simplicity, this guide uses the Basic Giveaway template.

Every template serves as a starting point. You can start with any template and customize it to match the style and functionality of any other template.

  1. Click the template to open the Preview screen. When you’re ready, click the Use This Template button in the top-right corner to begin building your giveaway.
  1. You will be redirected to the Create tab. The giveaway is created in draft status and is accessible only to team members.

Customize the content

The Woorise landing page builder works in the concept of content blocks, where each block represents a single piece of content. You can add blocks for text, images, videos, audio, columns, spacing, group blocks, and more.

You can use the block inserter in the top-left corner to add new blocks.

Or click on an existing block to edit its options from the right sidebar.

To navigate through blocks more easily, click the Document Overview icon in the top-left corner to access the List View.

Giveaway options

From the Page tab in the right sidebar, you can customize every aspect of your landing page, including naming your page, setting an end date, editing content blocks, and publishing it when you’re ready.

Page title

By default, the campaign inherits the title of the selected template. To rename it, click on the three-dot menu in the top-right corner, select Rename, give a name and click the Save button.

This will set the internal name of your campaign, which will also be used as the title when the campaign is published. If you want to use a different name for public display and search engines, you can set it in the Share tab.

Click the Link option in the right sidebar to set a custom URL for the page, which will also be used when sharing the page.

Start and end date

In the Start/End date section, in the right sidebar you have the option to set the Start date and the End date of your giveaway.

Start date

A Start date is useful when you want to publish and start sharing the giveaway before starting accept submissions. When a Start date is set users who accessing the campaign will see the following message (you can change the default message).

If your goal is to start accepting submissions immediately when the campaign is published there is no need to set a Start date.

End date

To set an end date, click the Pick an end date button or edit the existing date. Once an end date is set, a new button, Edit ended content, becomes available. This feature allows you to customize the message displayed to users after the giveaway ends.

It’s a great opportunity to include a call-to-action, such as promoting your website, services, or products. You can also use this section to announce the winners.

Three days before the giveaway ends, you will receive an email notification reminding you that the giveaway is about to end. This is a perfect opportunity to share the giveaway and inform your audience that time is running out to participate. Additionally, you will receive another email notification once the giveaway has ended.

Other options

In the Page tab section of the right sidebar, you can find additional settings to customize both the functionality and design of your giveaway.

  • Viral share: Allow you to reward users with bonus entries for referring their friends. It’s a highly recommended feature to increase sharing and participation on your giveaway. Check this guide for more details.
  • Modal: Allows you to display customized content in a modal/popup window. For example, you could display the official rules for your giveaway.
  • CSS: By clinking the Edit CSS button allows you to add custom CSS with live previews for mobile and desktop devices. The CSS added global for all landing pages.

Customize form

The Form tab is the core of your giveaway’s functionality. With the form builder, you can add fields to collect user data or action fields to encourage participants to complete specific tasks, such as following a social account, visiting a website, or watching a video. Here is a template with some action examples.

While there are many settings available depending on the type of giveaway you are running, below we will focus on the key features and configurations.

Form settings

Some notable options in the form settings related to giveaways are the following. For a full list of form settings take a look in this guide.

Enable country restriction

This option allows you to select the countries where your form will be available. Users accessing your form from other countries will see a default message, which you can customize.

Please note that while this feature is effective in most cases, it may not be foolproof. Tools such as VPNs, proxies, or other location-masking methods may allow users to bypass these restrictions. As an alternative, you can add a dropdown or a multiple choice field to your form, asking users to select their location from the allowed options.

Enable CAPTCHA

Activates invisible CAPTCHA protection to safeguard your giveaway from spam and automated submissions. The verification runs entirely in the background, providing a seamless and secure experience without interrupting the user.

Email verification

When Email verification is enabled an email message will be sent to users to verify their email address. You can customize the message in the Notifications in the left sidebar.

A new Verified column becomes available in the Entries tab, allowing you to check whether users have verified their email addresses.

Confirmation messages (thank you pages)

In the Confirmations section, you can customize the messages or thank-you pages displayed to users after they enter the giveaway. You can create multiple confirmation messages and trigger them using conditional logic based on user selections. Email notifications

In the Notifications section you can create email notifications that will be send to users or any other email address. As with the confirmation messages you can create multiple email notifications and conditionally trigger them based on various events. Limit submissions

In the Limit Submissions section, you can configure advanced rules to create complex submission limits based on the submitting IP or any field value in the form, such as email address, name, or phone number. For example, you can set up a daily giveaway where users are allowed to enter once per day.

Publish & Share

After configuring all the options, you’re ready to publish your giveaway and share it with your audience. To publish, go to the Create tab and click the Publish button in the top-right corner.

Next, navigate to the Share tab to configure sharing options. You can share the giveaway’s landing page directly or embed it on your website.

Share

In the Share section, you can copy your page link or use the social buttons to quickly share it on social platforms. The Share Preview section allows you to preview and edit share details, including the title, image, and description. Embed

In the Embed section, you’ll find various options to embed the page on your website. You can embed it inline within your content or use formats like popups, sliders, popovers, and more. For a detailed guide on how embedding works, please refer to this guide.

Manage entries

All collected form submissions are displayed in the Entries tab. From here, you can manage your entries, including searching for specific entries, deleting them, marking them as spam, importing or exporting entries, manage winners and more.

Depending on the form fields and features enabled for your campaign, you can activate additional columns by clicking the gear icon in the top-right corner of the entries table.

Finally, you need to contact the winners to inform them of their win.
