How to Create a Conversational Form

Conversational forms are a modern, interactive alternative to traditional forms. Instead of displaying all questions at once, they guide users through a one-question-at-a-time experience—much like a real conversation. This approach creates a more engaging and humanized interaction that helps reduce form fatigue and increase completion rates.

With Woorise, creating a conversational form is simple and powerful. Whether you’re collecting leads, running surveys, or gathering feedback, conversational forms can significantly improve the user experience and boost your conversion rates. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to create your own conversational form using Woorise.

Create a conversational form

Woorise makes it easy to enable the conversational form layout on nearly any existing template. For a faster and more streamlined setup, we recommend starting with the Quick Start Conversational Form template.

  1. In your Woorise dashboard navigate to Pages from the main menu.
  2. Click the Create Page button. In the Templates gallery, you can either select Start From Scratch to build a conversational form from the ground up or choose a pre-designed template that best fits your needs.
  3. Click on a template to open the Preview screen, where you can review its design and layout before making a selection. Once you’ve found the perfect template, click Use This Template in the top-right corner to begin customizing your form.
  4. You will be redirected to the Design page, where you can customize your landing page. This tab includes various standard options, such as setting the page title and link. In this guide, we’ll primarily focus on styling the conversational form. For a full walkthrough of page customization options, please refer to our landing page customization guide.
  5. To enable and customize the conversational form, navigate to the Form tab, click on Settings, and then select Conversational Forms.
  6. Click Enable Conversational Page if it’s not already enabled by the template, then proceed to configure the available settings to match your needs.

Conversational form settings

The conversational form settings allow you to fully customize the look, feel, and behavior of your form to create a smooth, engaging experience for users. From layout and design options to welcome screens and navigation controls, these settings give you the flexibility to match your form’s appearance to your brand and guide users through a friendly, step-by-step journey.

Form design

  • Layout – Set the overall layout for the dedicated form page. You can choose from three layout options: position the form on the left, center, or right side of the page, relative to the background image or color.
  • Background Color – Choose a background color for the form page.
  • Form Accent Color – Used for various form elements, such as buttons and progress bars.
  • Input Accent Color – Applied to elements within individual form inputs, such as checkmarks and dropdown choices.
  • Text Color – Set the text color used in the form.
  • Enable Logo – Toggle this option to display a logo on the page. Once enabled, additional settings will appear, allowing you to upload your logo and specify a URL for the logo to link to when clicked.
  • Enable Background Image – Toggle to display a background image. Once enabled, additional settings will appear, allowing you to upload a background image and adjust the brightness of the background image.

Welcome screen

To help users feel more comfortable with a conversational form, it’s a good idea to start with a welcome screen. Jumping straight into the first question can be a bit jarring, so the welcome screen gives you a chance to introduce your form, set the tone, and share any important info or instructions before they dive in.

  • Enable Welcome Screen – Toggle to display a welcome screen before the user begins the form.
  • Heading – Main title displayed on the welcome screen.
  • Description – Secondary text used to provide a message or context on the welcome screen.
  • Start Button Text – Text shown on the button that starts the conversation.
  • Image – Upload an image to be displayed on the welcome screen.
  • Image Alternate Text – Text used as the alt attribute for the welcome image (for accessibility and SEO).

Buttons

  • Continue Button Text – Text to be displayed on button used for progressing to next field.

Customize the look and feel of the form navigation, which appears below the form fields on all conversational pages. This helps create a consistent and user-friendly experience as visitors move through your form.

  • Footer Background Color – Set the background color for the navigation bar.
  • Enable Progress Bar – Toggle to display a progress bar below the form. When enabled, you’ll have access to additional customization options including:
    • Progression Type – Choose the style of the progress indicator, such as percentage or steps.
    • Bar Background Color – Set the background color of the progress bar (defaults to your accent color).
    • Bar Foreground Color – Set the foreground (fill) color of the progress bar (also defaults to your accent color).

Known limitations

Because of the unique structure and flow of conversational forms, certain fields and form settings are not compatible with this layout. Below are the specific limitations to be aware of.

  • Viral share feature is not currently available in conversational forms.
  • CAPTCHA is not supported in conversational forms.
  • Conversational forms always use a “Label placement” value of “Top.” Any other label placement value will be ignored.
  • Clicking the continue button does not save or update a partial entry like the next and previous buttons do on a regular multi-page form.
  • Page fields, which are typically used to create multi-page forms, are not compatible with conversational forms. If your template includes any Page fields, they will need to be removed to use the conversational layout.
